Hasbro Transformers BotBots Display // NYTF2019
The Transformers franchise is one rife with potential for reinvention, with the 35 years of the property filled with various incarnations and re-interpretations. One of the zanier incarnations of the brand is the new Transformers BotBots subline which was on display at NYTF2019.
Inspired on collectible lines like Shopkins, BotBots debuted last October introducing a new wacky continuity to Transformers lore. A mysterious cloud of energon has descended upon an unsuspecting Earth shopping mall. Miraculously the mall's many contents are transformed into tiny robots effecting everything from gadgetry, appliances, sports equipment, and even food. Now the BotBots splinter off into factions such as the Toilet Troop and Techie Team, causing humorous hijinks throughout their shopping mall home.
At Toy Fair, Hasbro announced some new teams for the 2nd and 3rd Series of figures that will arrive later this year and include blind bags, 5-packs, and 8-packs. The blind bagged figures retail for $2.99, the 5-packs for $9.99, and the 8-packs for $14.99. The best part of Hasbro's display was the incredible diorama exhibiting the figures, perfectly replicating the mall the BotBots story.
