Super 7 Masters of the Universe Classics Display // NYTF2019
The Masters of the Universe Classics play pattern has lasted over 11 years across two companies, starting at Mattel and now finding a home at Super 7. Beyond special exclusives, Super 7 provides two key toylines for fans of MOTUC style figures with the Club Grayskull line providing toys based on the classic Filmation cartoon and the Collector's Choice series that provides fan demanded characters across the entirety of the MOTU franchise.
At New York Toy Fair, Super 7 had displays of the previously announced 4th Club Grayskull wave consisting of Prince Adam, Shadow Weaver, Stratos, Roboto, Kittrina, and Modulok. All the figures look fantastic as always sporting smooth stylized sculpts and accessories from Four Horseman Toy Designs.
But the Club Grayskull wave would not be the sole MOTUC representation at Toy Fair, as Super 7 stole the show with their announcement of Collector's Choice wave 3- an assortment of figures based on the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie. Dubbed the "William Stout Collection" in honor of the film's production designer of the same name, wave 3 brings to life Dolph Lundgren's He-Man, two versions of Frank Langella's Skeletor, and the bounty hunter Karg to life. Aside from Karg being a repaint of an earlier released version of the character, albeit with a more movie accurate color scheme, all figures are 100% new sculpts capturing the unique character designs of the film. Fans have long-awaited toys based on the cult classic film, and Super 7 has rewarded that patience with this amazing collection.
