This is a pretty cute story, with a lesson focused on teamwork. McCann has a solid handle on how Spidey and his amazing friends should act, and the simplification to make them more openly family-friendly works really well. The climax is a little cliche, but there are times where the cliches work. This is one of them.
The art style for this book remains that weird semi-kid style, looking like a slightly more grown up version of the Marvel Super Heroes characters. It works surprisingly well, but the art style does have a problem when it comes to major action scenes. While there are still some great moments, you shouldn’t be expecting high-octane action out of this one.
If you’re looking for a great book to read to the kids at bedtime, this is a great comic to pick up.
