Doctor Strange #388 review

Doctor Strange #388 review

Doctor Strange #388 is by Donny Cates with art by Niko Henrichson

Right in the middle of Damnation, Doctor Strange #328 decides to made a sudden pause in the action to sit back and really reflect on all that Strange has been through the past years and it still manages to not stop the flow of the issue or the crossover at all. This issue takes place directly after Damnation #388 and deals with Bats possessing Stranges body and getting in his head to try to get him to realize he’s attacking his friends. Bats is really just here to be the voice of reason for Strange and snap him out of his pity party that Strange has going on.

Strange is a pretty selfish character at most times and the past few years have really reflected on that and here lately even when he tries to do things that are good he really just makes them worst. Strange also has a tendency to push others away and try to do things on his own which also ends up causing more harm than good, this issue really tries to make a point to Steohen that he’s not alone at all and should rely on his friends for help because with this issues cliffhanger he really is gonna need it.

Cates was ballsy to take a pause in the middle of the action in a big crossover for Strange to take a breather but it works, Cates really seems to gets Strange and nails the dialogue and dry quippy nature the character has had. Niko Henrichsons art is just as crazy absurd and good as the story itself and really brings a lot to this series as well. His art shines the best when he’s getting to draw crazy creatures so I like that Damnation really plays to his strengths.

Doctor Strange #388 gets an A+
