Extremity #4 Review
Extremity continues to be a sleeper hit, by being awesome but unfortunately, not having enough hype! Read this. Tell your friends, tell your family, even let grandma know! Get everyone reading this book because it is AWESOME! This issue is no exception to the series' high quality!
In this issue the familial problems reach a new level. Tensions have been high for a while so this was an inevitable conclusion- which I will not spoil! Thanks to this, the story is beginning to be about Thea's family, rather than just focusing on her. This issue especially, focuses on her father, as he encounters an important face from his past.
The Roto tribe are still seeking their revenge. In fact, this quest has become an obsession. It also showcases their pride, which seems all consuming. The Roto are a proud people, however, it is their leader that is perhaps worst of all. He is letting his desire for vengeance get in the way of his relationship with Thea and her brother. It blinds him to the affects that the mission is having on them. It is upsetting but it is beautifully told. In this issue we also see a character's story come to an end. The impressive thing is that we are only four issues in- but it is still incredibly sad that we have to bid farewell to said character.
I am tip toeing around the spoilers here but really, I need you to just get out and get reading! This has quickly become one of my favourite ongoing series. It is firmly in my pull list, however, I am also excited to grab the first trade paperback as soon as it is released! I have several friends that I know would love this.
The series is moving at a nice swift pace, and continues to be brutally savage. I truly hope that Daniel Warren Johnson can keep this up! I'm giving this issue an A as I am continuing to be impressed by the characters, the art, the world building and everything else that has been lovingly poured into this series!
