REDNECK #1 REVIEW: COW BLOOD AND PAINT THINNER

Lets get right into it...Texas Vampires!!

I was very excited when this book was announced....Donny Cates has been a force on the Independent scene, and Lesandro Estherren's art is beautiful and amazing...even more so when it's in full color.

LOOK AT IT!

Without spoiling anything: the setting is current era Texas...little town called Sulphur Springs...We're introduced to a family of Vampires and they ain't never done nothing! Merry Christmas! The dialogue is genuine....being a born and raised Southerner, myself (Alabama Roll Tide!) It's easy to pick out someone that's trying to emulate a Southern dialect...imposters can be sniffed out immediately. It's not as easy as just adding "y'all" into everything....there's a cadences, a nuance, and Donny Cates is all over it. In the first Letters page Donny talks about how this book is personal, and those are always the best kind of stories.

Dee Cunniffe's coloring is spot on...the deep shadows and the grainy feel of a small Southern town are perfectly captured. Joe Sabino is solid in his role ad Letterer....stylized...but non-intrusive. The whole team gets an A+! This comic is gonna be a hell of a ride!
