Sonic the Hedgehog #4 // Review

Sonic the hedgehog is by Ian Flyn with art by Evan Stanley and colors by Matt Herms

The fourth issue of Sonic follows the same formula as the last three with a slight variation to it. Sonic shows up to a town being invaded by Eggmans forces and teams up with an ally to defeat the robots then move on. This time he teams up with Tangle the Lemur who is a blast to see on page, her stretchy tail power is fun to see and it’s great seeing the way her powers are used. They also get help from Blaze this time around who (for those that don’t know) is a princess from another dimension who guards fiery crystals and has fire powers herself. She basically shows up to wipe out large portions of the bots so that they can all team up to destroy the ship dropping the robots. The issue then ends with Sonic taking off again alone to try to figure out whose oraganizing Eggmans forces.

While this issue was good this series is becoming a bit formulaic at this point, but writer Ian Flyn is able to add enough variations to keep it interesting. It’s also a bit odd that they keep having Sonic have to team up with someone every issue just to take off in his own but that also seems like something that may have affect later. Once again this series is visually stunning and the art is one of the biggest highlights of the book. But due to the formulaic nature and the once again a ending Sonic off on his own this issue is gonna get a B-
